Might be a software thing, but it sounds like it's going to be expensive.

Airmatic is the air suspension on your car. More complicated than the regular springs on a regular car. Maybe an airbag blew, sensor is off, who knows.

That's one of the trouble with Mercs with AIRMATIC... they lower themselves to the ground!
As for the question, it depends on how troubling the problem is. It can be a minor sensor fault, or a leak in the high-pressure air line, faulty air compressor or something along the lines...
Don't try to drive it around. However have you tried to raise it manually?
Best is to call technical support or get the local Merc workshop to take a look.

Don't screw with the airmatic suspension. You might cause more damage. Call a Mercedes-Benz technition. You have an expensive car. I wouldn't mess with it.

one on a mercedes probably not from bitter experence doing most of the work on my 300SE mercedes are not the easyest cars to work on. and it also depends on what exactly is causing the fault

Somethins up with the suspension. MB shop will have to pull codes.

It depends check your tires first because that's usually the cheapest problem.then go to a mechanic if it's not the tires and see if your suspesion is causing the problem.
