I believe that the Phillies are a vastly improved team and will give the Mets are real run for their money. I also believe that the Mets pitching staff leaves much to be desired. I think that the Phillies can and will win 90 plus games this year and with a little luck can even win the NL East. They WILL make the playoffs this season. And you know what can happen in the playoffs. They will have as good a chance as anyone when they do. The Phillies are actually my pre season favorites to win the NL pennant.

A lot depends on their pitching staff more than anything. As A Braves fan I certainly hope that we make a turnaround from last year but like the Phillies a lot depends on a healthy and productive pitching staff. Howard is a monster! And the other guys you named aren't too shabby either. Good luck to your Phils!

They will all have good years and will help the team. BUT, the Phillies are not yet ready to reach the promised land because they still need a better pitching rotation to compete at that level.

I'd have to say their pitching is questionable. There offense is in good shape, obviously; but you can't win it just with offense. You need pitchers who can keep the score down. They've got an OK starting rotation but, as a Cardinal fan, I can't wait to see what Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds and company can do against the Phillies bullpen.

I honestly believe Charlie Manuel is the key...but with that talent they will arrive on time.
