The seasons are caused by the change in the tilt of the Earth on it's axis as it revolves around the sun. The axis of the Earth is an imaginary line that goes from the north pole to the south pole of the Earth. This is why (if you are in the northern hemisphere anyway, in the southern hemisphere the seasons are reversed) the sun gradually drifts to the more Southern part of the sky in the winter hitting it's futhermost point at the winter solstice (around December 22 when the longest night of the year occurs) and then drifts back to the Northern part of the sky in the summer, hitting it's futhermost point at the summer solstice(when the longest day of the year occurs).
To help you visualize how the tilt affects day length, get a flashlight and a ball and tilt the ball back and forth in front of the light to observe the way the shadows change. Also, if you have the time, you can build yourself a mini stonehenge by placing markers on the ground to cast shadows during the solstices and equinoxes to really get a good idea of how far the sun moves across the sky through the year.

The Earth is tilted on its axis. As it travels in its orbit around the sun each year, there is a time period when the northern axis of the earth is tilted closer to the sun and the southern axis is farther, so the Northern Hemisphere experiences summer and Southern winter. Likewise, there is a time period when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the sun -- and has winter, while the Southern is tilted toward the sun -- and has summer. That's why the further north or south you go, the more the seasons change. At the very top and bottom of the Earth, you practically have 6-month days and 6-month nights, while at the Equator, you don't have big seasonal differences.

THe earth has two kinds of movements, rotational, the one in it's own axe, which makes day and night... and the other, which goes around the sun... This makes the seasons, when the earth is closer to the sun it's summer, when it's farther it's winter... it also has some to do with the rotational movement, cause in winter the earth is not only farther, but it's inclined, so the sunrays don't come right into the earth, but they are a little deflected by the atmosphere.

The earth spins at an angle to its orbit around the Sun. This means that at different times of the year different places on Earth are, on average, closer to or further away from the Sun. This also accounts for the difference in the length of a day over the year.

The seasons are caused by the relationship between the tilt of the Earths axis and the angle at which sun hits the surface. Areas near the Equator are always oriented to receive direct sunlight so it's always warm there. In areas of the Earth that are closer to the poles, during the months they receive the most direct sunlight it's spring/summer. During the months that the sun doesn't beam directly on the surface it's heat energy is spread out more causing lower temperatures (fall/winter).

Due to gravity and rotation as Earth orbits sun the north and South hemispheres tilt to and from the sun which causes the seasons...spring and fall are just the in between as tilt moves

the earths axis is set on an angle and that angle wobbles this causes the earth to change its respective angle to the sun the equator is the adverage of this angle and the 2 tropics of Cancer and Capricorn are the extreems this is what causes the seasons and why the seasons are the opposite in the northern and southern hemispheres

its cuz of the revolution of the earth on an imaginary orbit which is shaped in an elleptical way...
the earths rotation causes day and night.......while its revolution brings change in the seasons depending on the location..whether it is away from the sun(winter) or closer(summer)..
the other two seasons come when the earth is neither that far away nor that closer to the sun.......
