Biology = the study of living organisms and their environment. The discovery of DNA is significant because DNA is the basis for all of life. By understanding how DNA works scientists will better understand how exactly organisms work. Discovery of DNA has led to breakthoughs in medicine and even criminology. We now have the potential to identify and possibly "correct" genetic defects or harmful mutations. Now whether or not you find that to be ethical is a whole new topic of conversation.
