I think the whole thing is silly. Wasn't that guy who put those things up, just doing what he was told to do by Turner Broadcasting? That guy is obviously going to jail, there is no way he can out do the city of Boston.

Isn't this letting the terrorists win? Putting our own citizens in jail over something that wasn't even a big deal?

By the way, I found the MySpace page of one of the guys that did it:

Yah, it's pretty ridiculous. It's putting a citizen in jail for being a non-terrorist. Fantastic. Now they wanna sue Turner?

It's just more distraction to get our minds off Iraq.

I think Turner got way more publicity than they imagined!

These guys only worked for am advertising company-I can't believe the Boston PD went crazy when it had been in 10 other cities for weeks without calling out the bomb squad! Boston overreacted-and Homeland Security loves it when we over react!
Is the way life in the USA will be from here on out? The "devices" didn't look dangerous to me at all-they're cartoon like! Are we going to panic at the drop of a hat? Yeah the "shoe bomber" used matches and lighters are banned on airplanes. Apparently, you can still have several books of matches...people, think about this! I also read the Boston PD blew up some of the devices, damaging property, even after they were told what they were! And these two guys are supposed to pay for it? Yeah, looks like the terrorists have won....

You're right, Fed Ex, it's pretty ridiculous. From the reports I heard, the marketing firm did contact the city to get permission, but it was a little later than usual. So it seems like there was miscommunication between the agencies. That's not Turner's fault. They shouldn't be sued. I think law enforcement panicked because they didn't find them for weeks. I've heard "prank" and "hoax" used for this incident, but they're neither. They would be, if Turner intended them to be mistaken for bombs. Ricockulous.

I do not know what is wrong with people.....a bomb can go anywhere and look like anything and a very good possible way to hide it is in something that looks innocent...... The local law enforcement should have been notified that they intended to pull these marketing ploys.....there are terrorist cells everywhere and learn from our mistakes and ignorance......isn't it better to be safe than sorry??????? I think that adage was created for some reason.........the reason we don't have slews of suicide bombers and so much violence is because of our cautious law enforcement....people need to smarten up and stop being so ignorant....how is this letting the terrorists win....I think it tells them we are watching and protecting our home turf!!!!!!

I think that they were just ignorant. They made a big deal out of nothing. The other cities didn't complain nor did anything. They didn't even look threatening to me. I thought the promotion was a good idea. Boston needs to take a chill pill.

I tend to give Boston some slack on this one. The devices were discovered during the day, so it wasn't that obvious to what they were. (Compared to when they are lit up)

The really scary part for me is why it took Boston 2 weeks to notice these devices on their infrastructure. I mean if two hippie kids could place dozens of them without anybody noticing, that makes me wonder.

It was meant as a joke, yes, but bombs are something you dont mess around with these days. The terrorists have made bombs a taboo in our post 9-11 society. They should have done something else and they don't deserve jail.

The media sure went to town on this subject. Agreed, the guy in Boston in charge of advertising should have shown common sense to talk to the police, sheriff's office, and whomever is in charge of bridges. They'll probably be able to make a charge of 'inducing panic' stick, despite his intentions.

I think it started out funny but is just getting sad.

I am sorry but those things didn't look like bombs.

I agree with you this is letting the terrorist win... what out the terrorist even having to do anything.

It was just a joke. The problem is not with them, but with the government trying to perpetuate this sense of fear in the American people. It was a toy!
