YES.
Because it's been 99 years since a World Series title.
Because we have lou Pinella as the manager.
Because we signed Alfonso Soriano.
Because we re-signed Aramis Ramirez.
Because Derek Lee will be healthy.
Because we still got Carlos Zambrano.
Because it's next year has finally arrived!

The Cubs definitely have the potential to be a great team this year, and possibly for a few years to come. We know that the bats are there with Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, and Alfonso Soriano. Lou Pinella has the experience in guiding great teams. The key again this year is the pitching. Zambrano showed last year that he can win games. If Mark Prior and Kerry Wood can stay healthy, they can form a very solid foundation for the rotation. Glendon Rusch can add to that rotation strength.Ted Lilly can provide a good addition to the team. It all depends on the pitching.

Yes, and they will probably go all the way to win the World Series!! Why?? No other club made as many moves to improve themselves, including the hiring of Lou Pinella. They have better pitching, great fielding, and can hit!! That formula adds up to a championship for the Cubs in 2007. This from a Red Sox fan.
Chow!!

On paper, yes, they should make the playoffs. However, history seems to be against them. It seems the Cubs always have something happen, such as injuries to Prior, Wood, Lee, etc., or just plain bad luck.
Actually, I think 2008 will be the Cubs year. What better way to celebrate the centennial of their last World Series victory than with another one?

I'm going with a big yes on this one. My key is Mark Prior. I picture him coming back strong. Most of the other keys are in place. They need a strong #2 pitcher. The offense has improved. The defense is better. They have 2 new pitchers that can eat up innings. The bullpen is actually a strong suit.
Go Cubs!!!

I say Yes. The key this year is it doesn't matter if Prior and wood are healthy. They did the right thing by getting pitching. Second is this may be the year they have a good lead off man in Sorianto, if he bats around .300 watch out. With the sluggers behind him they will score a lot of runs. The final reason is the fire in Penilla the players were to relaxed with Dusty around.

i believe they will just look at the players they got in the offseason. Soriano, ted lilly, Jason Marquis, Cliff Floyd, Darryl Ward, and Mark Derosa. Most Likly Michael Barret will be the 8th hitter and he was (best offensive catcher in NL), the question going into this season was pitching but look at are front 5 zambrano, lilly, marquis, Marshall, and Prior. Plus we have Erye, Dempster, Howry, miller, and ohman. This looks like there year
