UAC - User Account Control. It's tries to protect the user from making a mistake that might hurt the system. So if you really trust yourself to make sure that you aren't going to do something wrong, when you press that ok button, then you should turn UAC off. Here's are some sites on how:

Good luck!

I haven't installed Vista yet but if it runs similar to previous then you don't need to install XP first. It may ask you for a disk as it wipes the drive before installing vista.
I do not recommend vista as there are few applications that work under it, wait at least 3more months or for a service pack, whichever comes first, then install it.
Don't be an unpaid beta tester for microsoft.
Regardless, you should be able to add a drive w/o problems and run 2 drives.

I just bought the Cadillac computer from Gateway FX530XM and decided to just get the windows xp edition...till they get all the bugs worked out of vista..and asked that question to them. Yes, you would be able to upgrade to Vista...esp with a larger hard drive. Going to a larger hard drive would help all your programs work better and faster...how is your memory would be my next question and what size processor are you using...they all make a difference when working together.

Congratulations sucker, read this first link. Maybe since you bought a limited edition you can get bill gates to sign it for you. Bwahahahohohehehaha!™

Also "OF COURSE", you don't need XP installed to do an install of Vista upgrade as seen on second link.
