A website has taken my family's information and put pages up about each one of us with basic information. It's not harmful, but it feels intrusive and we don't feel comfortable having our information on a website with which we have no relationship or connection. I asked the webmaster two months ago to take it down. They said they would that very week. It has been up for two months. I emailed them two weeks ago to see when they were actually going to take it down and they've neglected to respond to me. Someone told me that we can't do anything about this, but that doesn't seem fair. If someone, for example, makes a website endorsing Hitler and out of nowhere, smack dab in the middle of a page, has written out your name and information, that is not fair. What can be done about this?

Not sure what but I'm pretty sure you have rights to take some kind of action against these people , get everything in writing and make copies of everything you have written or received. or have seen so far.

General rule? If there is no false (and I stress false malicious intent, liable or slander.. Information is not illegal in any form...

The fact that you consider it intrusive dosent really matter.. even if it is "mean" if its "true" it can be published. Your feelings of being intrusive do not override 1st ammendment rights.. SORRY

I agree with who ever told you that.. Theres nothing you can do..

Even in the advent of a mention of hitler.. it would have to be taken in context.. and you state there is no connection its "out of the blue" (which is more than i can say for the BUSH family which clearly had fiducairy and political ties to the NAZIS.. and provable.. matter of public record and court proceedings)

On its face? Your situation has NO MERIT legally.. My advice? Yer wasting yer time...

Learn to live with it.. Information dosent really require "consent" if it did just about every publisher Radio station TV media buiz would be out of business.. only thing required is that the information be at least somewhat accurate ...

Even pictures.. face it Would britanny allowed those crotch shots if it were illegal? No consent necessary.. no right to privacy in that bit.. Public venue.. and likely the person that published what yer bitching about was your "public" at the time... Nope you dont have a legal case here as far as I can tell..

particularly since you redily clame its not HARMFUL.. thats one of the 3 pronged tests for either liabel or slander legally.. (and all 3 prongs have to be met legally) You just LEGALLY blew yerself outta the water with that in fact.. Intrusive is not illegal.. SORRY I know thats not what you wanted to hear.. You wanna be private? Do what I do stay the hell away from people mostly...

But hey If you want to help some Lawyer make his Beemer payments.. feel free to persue that avenue... You arent gonna get anywhere.. but they will make those Beemer payments..

Hire a hacker to crash their site.
You can not sue the people behind the website. They have not broken any rules.
