I am white.
Black history is a big part of our history.
It has much to do with the history of our nation.
It makes no difference if it is black history, white history, or purple history.
History is important!
It helps us to understand where we've been. And it helps us to keep from making the same mistakes again.

My kids do at school and there is very few blacks in the school. We also do fun stuff at home here with black history. The black people came up with so many new and cool things that we would never be able to live with out! We even have a party at the end of the month with cake and all and we share what we learned this month its so much fun!

Many people have the United States spirit of wanting equality and mutual respect.
Some say the American experiment has failed. I think it is just beginning. I went
to a Martin Luther King, Jr event. Was the first White to rise for the Black National
Anthem. If find though that many Blacks have been either indifferent to, or untrusting of my past efforts to reach out to Blacks.
Myself. I see that we all have a lot of stuff in our heads, that isn't really in our hearts.
The mind full of distrust. But the spirit wanting to reach out.

Well I can say that at my mother school which has a low percentage of Black students, do celebrate Black history. Of course with my mother being Black as well as Nigerian she teaches Black history as well as teaches other Black cultures as well.

I personally don't. Feels like a political constraint and a strong arm. Most political situations like that feel like ' you better. ' Never order somebody who they are going to respect. Any historical figure generally goes by the boards with me. I have to be interested in you and what you did. Not just cause you are in the books.

I can't speak for all schools, but the ones in Illinois, where I teach now, celebrate it. As for "mixed" schools, if they're public schools, they're all "mixed" now. It's called "integration".

I don't my schools ever celebrated it but they made it known that it was Black history month. I don't think many people really celebrate it anyways even though we all should.

so we aren't perceived as not recognizing them and "taking black history" serious so we dont look like racists but treated that way regardless.
