Considering there was some sort of war during most generations, I am going to leave that out and say the 1950's. Besides the Korean War, America was at an economical and social high point that consisted of real family values. This is the time that America felt the joy of the end of WW2 and the resurgance of the stock market after a long depression. There was also a good man in the White House and families were able to live comfortably on one income. A decade later we had Vietnam, an untrusted President and rising gas and retail prices.

I'd like to go back and see lots of things, if I could come back. I guess I'd like to see the Gettyburgh Address among many other things. Good question, by the way.
I've been reviewing some of the answers after I wrote mine. The 80's? Give me a break. Don't they teach history any more?

It would either be the old western days, I would be an outlaw, no cameras or technology. And I would also go back to the King Arthur times and be a knight of the round table.

I'd like to go back to the 20's. They were the roaring twenties where women broke away from tradition (shortened their skirts, cut their hair, started to wear make-up, which at the time was only used by hookers) and partied all night!

I would go to every decade from the beginning of recorded time. Stay a couple days in every decade and just see what it's like to live in the time. Then when i'm done i'd pick my favorite time period and stay there.

colonial America. It was a time when men were men and women were women. You had a whole continent to carve your life out of and no internet and playstation to waste your time on.
