It's not "normal", but it's probably not dangerous, either. They usually call that "spotting"- been there, it's annoying as hell, but not dangerous. Call your ob/gyn if it continues more than 2 1/2 weeks. It can happen if you get the birthcontrol shot (I bled for 3 months!!!!), or have other hormonal shifts. Good luck, hon! :)

I would say you better go check with your doctor just to be safe. Your hormones could be going haywire. If your period is changing cycles, it will do that a few times in your life, which is no big deal.
Sometimes if your thyroid is out of whack, your periods will do weird things. If you have symptoms like being really tired or having trouble sleeping, rapid weight gain or loss, headaches, abnormal periods, etc., you could have a thyroid condition that is causing weird periods; your thyroid controls the hormones.

Yes, it is normal as far as I know. I get my periods for at LEAST 10 days. I went to 3 different doctors and they all say it is normal as long as it is not heavy for the whole 10 or more days of my period. I feel very sorry for myself and those who have long periods.

yeah it could be normal, periods can last from like 4 days to 13! But if you are really worried because this just started happening maybe you should check with a doctor to be sure. Good luck!

When i had periods that lasted 2 weeks I had cysts on my ovaries and the Dr. put me on BC pills that made them more regular. Although it only helped for a while. Talk to you Dr and ask if shes noticed anything different with your exams and tell her about your long periods she may have a suggestion..or then again it may just be how your body is.

Its not considered normal but it does happen, usually something with your hormones...My sister had her period for 1 month straight and everything turned out to be fine....Go get checked out if its bothering you...*and instead of using tampons which just trap the flow, try using sanitary pads as these help collect the flow and make the duration of a period shorter..good luck...

Depends on what age you are and other factors you have going on in your life. Usually, it's not "normal" but doesn't mean something is drastically wrong either. You should wait and see if it happens again next month before panicking, as well as writing down any other abnormalities.

I'm poly-cystic and have always had issues with my period. You may want to talk to your GYN. It could be that your at an age that your hormones are changing, you could be miscarrying, you could be poly-cystic, or you could just be under some stress. Best to talk to your doc.
