Personally, I find them to be really charming. I'm a native Californian, but there's just something about southern accents that I really like. To a southerner though, I guess I would be the one with the accent. It's a relative.

It entirely depends on the dialect, as in what they say and how they say it. I've heard beautifully spoken southern accents of many types and I've heard some southernly accented rhetoric so poorly spoken I could not understand a thing they said.
It's not fair to generalize people like this in my humble opinion. Too many variables.

Depends. If you've ever seen Jeff Foxworthy, accents like his I hate but look at Blanche from the Golden Girls and that sounds nice.

I think their accents are different as many other accents are to the opposite......... I think that they are unique in their speech. As long as we understand one another! Isn't it nice that we all live in a unique world full differences!

I think they are annoying, country and make you look stupid. Sorry but thats just me. Its my initial thought when i hear someone speak with a southern accent
