They do that in America too in order to get your attention about whatever they are trying to sell you...not illegal

No only in Australia but here in a America too! And those bloody car commericals are the worst. So loud it feels like they'll blow out your speakers.

loud annoying commercials. I hit the mute every time a loud commercial comes on.

We consaumer ought to boycott all the producs that are advertised at a volume higher than normal.
