switch off
take the covers off
leave it on the radiator for a day
should be fine
you might have to clean behind the keypads with isopropyl alcohol (where the conductive rubber hits the little metal stripes, if it's built that way) but don't do that unless it doesn't work

Most important thing is to get the battery out AT ONCE, then dry it out in a warm place, perhaps removing any covers and the sim. after say 24 hours re-assemble, give it a quick charge and hope it comes to life. Channel 5's Gadget show tested this a few years ago with reasonable success. Not so good if it was sea water though I have rescued a digital watch after it got flooded in the Ionian sea; fortunately the battery was instantly accessible. Obviously you need to wash the salt out with a few changes of clean water, perhaps finishing with a splash of methylated spirit.

Wangwing got it wrong this time. I dropped my mobile in the sea. Salt water shoud have destroyed it. I took it apart and dried it out for a couple of days. I then sprayed it with an electrical fluid cleaner and hey presto it worked. That was 5 months ago and it is still working fine.

Take it apart, put it on a clean dry cloth, and leave on a radiator; take the hairdryer out and GENTLY try to dry it out that way; leave it alone for a few days, then reassemble and hope for the best!!

You cant. If you have dropped it in water it is gone. No amount of drying will get it fixed.
