Alright everyone wondering if i should put a little more in my comp i was thinking of buying a Core 2 DUO mobo and a Core 2 duo proccessor, and 800 DDR2 Ram becaus eallot of core 2 duo boards do not take 667 ram.

I have:
Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI PRO Mobo
Pentium D Smithfield 805 2.66GHZ OCed to 3.55GHZ
CPU COoled with BIG Typhoon with Upgraded 120 89 CFM Fan
A-Data 4 GB 667 5300 DDR2 Ram
7950 GT KO SUperclocked Evga Nvidia Video Card
550W Rosewell SLI Ready PSU
1x 80GB Western Digital 8mb Cache 7500RPM-System HD
1x 200GB Western Digital 16mb Cahce 7500RPM-Gaming HD
1x 320BG Western Digital 16mb Cache 7500RPM-Entertainment HD
1x Lite On CD-R/RW-DVD-R/RW Drive
1x Lite On CD-R/RW-DVD Drive
Gate Watcher Temp, and Fan Controller


Should I upgrade?

Are you high? What you have now already surpasses the "typical" new home PC on the market now by a ridiculous stretch. What you're thinking of buying isn't cheap either.

Maybe you should check with the Pentagon and see what they're running and try to match that.

Well I don't know why everyone is talking like you are running a government level supercomputer, don't get me wrong its nice but not amazing. The processor and motherboard are the only things you need to replace, I have never seen a Core 2 Duo motherboard that won't take 667, if it says DDR2800 standard that means its the highest it can take. You should notice a pretty decent performance increase with the Core 2 Duo, especially if you overclock it. Also, I hope you are using a 64bit operating system, else you are not taking full advantage of the 4GB of RAM.

Bill Gates' computer
if you think you need more then go ahead put in the Core2 duo
you just might make it into the Guinness book of world records for the most powerful home computer
