Do you mean just on here, or in general?
I don't mind being called Chip on here (it's not my real name obviously) but what I really hate is receiving junk mail with my name repeated in every other sentence. It's like the sender's trying to make it seem personal, when you know thousands of people have received the same letter with a computer changing the name for each one. It seems so patronising.

It isn't strictly necessary with this Q&A system. I find when people use the questioners name its often the start of a flame or negative comment. In the same way you know your in for it when someone says "With the greatest of respect".

I don't mind being called Rachael, but I don't particularly like it when people I hardly know call me Rach.
