I will be attending the University of Sydney and on campus accomodation is quite expensive. I have heard that Sydney is an expensive place to live, but is there any other way to find some reasonably priced accomodation? (maybe close to the Uni also)

The 2 best sites for rentals in Sydney are
www.realestate.com.au
www.domain.com.au

Almost everything up for rent goes onto those web sites. Good luck looking! You should be able to find some relatively inexpensive shared accomodation near the Uni.

Look in the accommodation section in the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Check the noticeboards in the quad for share accommodation but be quick, rooms are snapped up quickly. Check with the Student Centre, they often have information about share accommodation or boarding. Visit real estate agents in the area and ask about flats/houses.

If you find something you like but it is too expensive, take it and put a notice in the quad for flatmates if you don't know anyone to share with.

It's not easy to move to Australia unless you have a work visa and a job lined up. People from the US get deported almost every day for trying to ender Australia without the appropriate visas. I think a new start is a good idea. I think you need to seriously re-think your stance on religion generally, as well as this business of going on a mission. Obviously people have the right to make up their own minds about religion, but there are an awful lot of us out here who don't like having mormon (or any other religion) doorknockers, irritating us. What about going to somewhere like Canada, or another US state? And why don't you just state clearly that you have no interest in going on a mission? What is it about going on a mission that you don't want to do? Is this the only aspect of your religion that you have a problem with? Or is it a more general problem? We can't help the families we are born to, or brought up by, but we can make decisions for ourselves as responsible adults. It's not up to your family or church whether or not you go on a mission, or whether you continue as an adult in the religion you were born to. It's down to you to make such decisions about your life.

Hi there, definately check out
www.gumtree.com
you will need to click on the Sydney link on the far right, then look at flatshare - rooms offered. they are really reasonably priced, centrally located, and usually the price includes bills so there are no nasty extras.
You'l love syd uni! Have a blast mate. and keep in mind that Syndye Uni is really easy to get to via public transport, and you will save yourself a whole stack of money if you are willing to live just outside the city.
goodluck!

Speak to all the local real estate agents, who also do rental property. A lot of rental property gets snapped up before it is even advertised, so if you are in constant touch with the agents and have your name on databases then you might be the one to hear about the properties first. You could also consider renting a room in a shared house.
