....concerning things such as bedtimes, homework, respectful language, parties, tobacco, chores, telephone time .............? I have sons this age who tell me that world that I lived in when I was their age was very different from the world today. They seem to think they get fewer privileges then other young people....

Bedtime 10:30 except on weekends.
Parties I have to ask.
No cuss words.
Have to respect my elders.
Good grades.
Wear clean not slutty, but it can be fashionable clothing.
Always go to church on Sundays.
And to get my chores and homework done everyday.
Plus no ditching school.
My parents also have to meet my bofriends and okay them.
By the way I'm a fourteen year old girl.

well I'm in that age group so i can help. I will tell you what my mom does and what most of my friends do. no drinking. no tobacco. NO SEX. and that's about it. what we do for a bedtime is not really say what time they have to sleep but giving a limit like what my mom said is that i have to go to bed between 9:30 and 10:45 BUT if we are doing something important the next day ex: test, trip, pictures, or anything she said we have to go to bed at 9:30. as for language kids say bad words behind their parents back PERIOD. alot of parents think " no not my baby he'd never do a thing like that" but that is toooooooo wrong. my mom's rule on that is do not say it in front of me or to an adult and were fine. homework my least favorite thing. my mom just has a rule as long as i have an f,d, or c no going out so that pretty much makes you do your homework. parties yes yes yes !! just tell them that they better not do anything bad because you'll find out. If you don't let them go they will do one of 2 things 1. sneak out and go anyway. or 2. give you the cold shoulder for a while and do something else to make you mad. and yes the world is different in ways and diff rent. there are still dangers out there and you have to make sure they stay safe it's part of your job as a mother... well hope i helped a little. emokiDD

she would have to keep her grades up to a least a C. There is no excuse for any lower. There are steps she could take to keep her grades up, after school tutoring and things like that. No boys over to the house unless I approve them and they can hang out with the rest of the family, or in the room with the door open with me coming in to check what they are doing. No cell phone until she at least has a job. Her curfew would be 10 on school nights and 11 or 12 on weekends depending. Homework will get done before she did anything, along with any chores she has. But as someone else already said it does depend on the kid, but these rules would be automatic for any kid.
