Please tell me, in your own words, what (if anything) is wrong with the US educational system. What are the exact problems? Can you think of solutions to these problems?

In comparison to other countries, why do American students consistantly lag behind in standardized tests? What do foriegn countries do differently than the American system of education?

Actually, the reason it appears that the US lags behind in a lot of the tests is because of the testing methods. In many countries students are exempted from taking the tests because they don't "qualify" for one reason or another. In the US we test everyone, and they all get included on the results. Test results really don't tell us that much. Don't knock the American educational system. it has faults and needs improvement, but I would argue still one of if not THE best public school system in the world.

1. Lack of resources for the student. Foreign language and particularly in the math and sciences are overcrowded and does not offer a one-on-one approach for the student

2. Lack of interest from staff members who hate their jobs. These people choose their jobs simply because they couldn't find a better job. The pay is also very low.

3. Teachers typically come from a poor education background, many have lagged behind in standardized testing in the past.

Ya, the USA system stinks. You should tell those 500,000 international students who come to the USA to study every year that they are wasting their time.
