Any books by Melina Marchetta. She wrote "Looking for Alibrandi" and she has a reasonably new book out called "On the Jellicoe Road" which is a great book that I really enjoyed. For something a little more light hearted you can try books by Meg Cabot. She writes "The Missing" series, "The Mediator" series, and the "Princess Diaries" series as well as some single books. They are short and sweet with happy endings if that is more your style.

Well, I personally don't think Harry Potter books are "bad," I think they're just fun to read. Anyways, but since you don't like reading those types of books, I wouldn't recommend it. I loved reading Shakespeare when I was a teenager but it's a bit difficult to read so if your into that kind of thing.

Mangas! SO GOOD! MANGA MANGA MANGA MANGA MANGA MANGA MANGA!! Some Mangas you have to be 18 to read. BUT they are sometimes the good ones. Some have twists and turns like Evil turning good and at the same time good turning bad or... Bad wins ahlf the time or... NARUTO!! You have NO clue who is good or bad until you do both; watch the Anime AND read it. Like a dude names Sasuke is on the good side but suddenly turnes to the "Dark Side" by forse by some kind of ninja art (i am not saying but i DO know) ANDE there are A LOT of cute Anime boys in Naruto AND there are 2 "Bad guy groups". One evil the other EvilER

The "Love Comes Softly" series by Janette Oak. They movies were on the Hallmark Channel. Katherine Heigl and Dale Midkiff starred in the first one. I loved all of them.
