Need much more information like what kind of glue are you talking about, what two things are you trying to glue together, what is the surface roughness of each thing, will thay absorb some of the glue.

depends on the viscosity of the glue. This has so many variables to be considered. There is no correct answer you can get out of this question, unless you know the characteristics of materials used as glue.
