Yeh- Make it interesting to the reader. Pick something you KNOW the teacher/ proff. loves or enjoys, and find all the negative info you can on it and why it is bad or bad for you...
Or, the opposite sex....Even something or someone you LOVE can be awful because there will naturally be hurt in every relationship, at some point. "Relations" with the opposite sex can lead to pregnancy, diseases, mental illnesses(depression), you can love so much it hurts...

Whatever you do, focus on the negative and if there are positives, create negative situations out of them. (Think argumentative, as in lawyers arguing...)

What side are you arguing? That it's ok to hate or not ok. IMO, it's ok to hate. We hate things all the time...I hate rude drivers, I hate liver..won't eat it. I hated the show West Wing. So it's ok to hate..it's even ok to hate people. I hate gang bangers. I hate taggers. Hate is a human emotion that you cannot lose no matter how hard you're told it's politically incorrect to hate. If you were to lose this emotion what's next..love? Depression? Sadness? Joy? As long as you don't turn your hate into violence against what you hate, you're fine.
Hope this helps one way or another.

Gay/lesbian debate is one not done alot, like the other topics such as race, abortion, etc. I suggest trying to pick something not wrote about as often, usually teachers like this and give you creative points when comes time to grade it.
