Don't get mad. Just get "even".... when he yells, then he makes you (and everyone) feel so bad, so then you can't possibly get as much work done as you would if you felt better about yourself. Also, work on getting another job somewhere else so you can have the fun of telling him where your're going!!!!
I think they do it because it makes them feel important. It is not good business, nor is it good for the company's efficiency to yell at employees. So "consider the source" and get even.

The personal attacks may not be legal, depending on what he is saying. I'd call the Employment Security Commission and find out. Luckily, I have a great boss, and such things are not permitted at my co. Even my boss could be fired for something like that, depending on the severity.

Who does your boss work for? Does he have a boss, what is the name of the company? Time need to be taken to know who to inform about the way that this person works in the work place.
Records need to be kept detailing date, time, incidents, and who was involved. With this information, a complaint to the labor board, Company board, President of the Company, would result in a change of the ways. Failure of the company to act can result in a class action law suite.
In America, you may think, but you can't say, or act derogatorily towards a coworker.

There is not that much you can do but to not let it bother you.
If you have an HR department go to them and talk about your Bosses behavior.
It does not really matter where you boss is "from" it only matters that he is abusive.
Maybe you should look for another job since it can be very hard to change somones behavior.

Usually when I run across someone yelling or being snippy I figure they must be getting pressure from somewhere else and are taking it out on someone else. This would mean they are either not happy at home or getting pressure from their boss.
Either way, keep smiling. It will drive him crazy. Secondly, do your job well and keep notes. If you get blamed for something he did you will want to be able to show your paper trail.

I wouldn't attribute jerkiness to nationality. It's quite universal. Remember, bosses have bosses, too, so you may want to try a confidential way of voicing your concerns to higher ups. If his boss is as jerky as he is, then you're in a bad organizational culture, and you should be happy in your pursuits of a better organization.

He is a jerk because y'all let him get away with it. I have lost several jobs because I would not let the boss treat me like dirt. I was always known to be one to tell an asshole to go f**k themself. Cost me a FEW very good jobs, but NO job is worth that.

I would come out and tell him not to speak to you that way.
I had a boss like that a while ago and I told him never to speak to me that way. He respected my feelings. After I was honest with him, we seemed to get a long better.

Um...your boss shouldn't be doing that at all! That's verbal abuse and he can get sued and be in big trouble! You need to tell him and report it and take it higher up if he doesn't stop.
