Herbal medicine is very effective in treating menopausal symptoms at whatever age, however do not self medicate with over-the-counter herbs. Go and see a professional herbalist - it costs but it's better than wasting money on useless OTC remedies. Look in YellowPages under "Herbalist" - make sure they are NIMH or CCP registered.

My mother was taking prescribed HRT medication. When she came off it, she started taking Black COHOSH Complex. She says it really helps? This is only an over the counter Herbal Remedy. I would suggest if you go to any health food shop, ask their advice too? Hope this helps? x

Anything with soya in it will help. You can even buy frozen soya beans now. They say that Japanese and Chinese women don't need to take HRT and never have hot flushes because the eat soya. Go to a health food store and ask

The only herbal alternatives i am aware of are Black Cohosh and Red Clover. I have heard very good reports from prople taking both.
