Hey I'm at University and I now what you're talking about. The way I stay focus is as soon as an assignment is set I write a detailed essay plan whilst it's straight in my mind. Then nearer the deadline it doesn't seem like I've got to do so much work when I've already done the plan. After I've finished an assignment I treat myself by going out, having mates round or buying something I've had my eye on. It makes me look forward to completing the work, and it's such a relief when it's done.
Definitely start with an essay plan early even if you don't start to write the assignment. Your work will probably improve heaps as well.
Good luck :-)

I always made myself a schedule of what I had to do then broke it down into manageable chunks. Give yourself goals and rewards for achieving set amounts of work, e.g if you work for 2 -3 hours tonight you can watch a TV programe or read a book or go on yahoo answers for an hour. Make the goals achievable and the rewards something you want, don't give in to yourself, and enjoy what you do. Know your end date and back chain your work to complete on time.

Sounds a bit naff , but you need to get into a 'study group' then the others will help you along plus you'll feel crap if you don't do your bit. But one word of warning beware of the temptation of plagerism.
Good luck in the exams

picture yourself having completed the course - take a deep breath and remind yourself that it may seem to be taking a long time but it is only a short time out of your life to achieve what ever you are working towards
keep in there!

Schedule enough free time for yourself. That way, when it's time to crack the books, you'll have recently had some time off, and also you'll have your next free time to look forward to.
