You can take it an unlimeted amount of times with no reprocussions. Some places require a time frame between failed tests to allow for more study and practice.

in wisconsin you can take it 5 times, but you have to wait at least 2 weeks in between each time, after the 5th time you have to wait another year. each state is different so check with your local DMV.

As many times as it takes until you finally pass.
