Is there someone in your life that you would take if sexual orientation were not an issue?

For an event like that, no matter who you take, it should be someone special in your life, not just a random date. Go alone unless you have significant other.

If you have a significant other, then we get to the gay issue. Are you "out of the closet?" If not, would it cause you stress and displeasure to go with your SO? In that case, would your SO be hurt? Which would be worse, the stress and displeasure of going, or hurting your SO?

I think if you want other people to accept you for who you are, you have to accept you for who you are, and make decisions based on how you think and feel. And it's ok if you don't feel brave enough to take a same sex date to this thing. I'm hetero and I've gone solo to events because I didn't feel comfortable taking a date.

Just bring a female friend. Unless you want everyone to know that you're gay. If you do, that's cool, but I doubt your school will allow you to bring a guy.

First, there's no rule that says you can't go to graduation if you're gay. Second, you can go alone, with a bunch of friends, or with your best buddy if that's what you prefer without making any excuses. You don't have to explain your actions unless you want to.

Are you kidding? You go to your graduation! Bring whom ever you want.

In response to the idiot below. You are a piece of work. God must be proud. Any way, he is not ashamed of being gay. He is fearful of pricks like you that might try and hurt him if he brings a guy to his graduation. You f@#cking a#@hole! I feel better.

It's YOUR graduation., you go however you are comfortable and have a good time regardless of others opinions.

In the grand scheme of life, the experiences before college education will be but a blip in what is important about your life.

Who brings a date to graduation? Things have changed since I was in school.

----edit----
If you don't want to let people know that you are gay, then you can either go to the dance by yourself (a lot of straight people do because they cannot find dates, believe me), or you can skip the dance altogether by leaving early (heterosexual people do that too).

Have you thought about bringing a guy with you? That is, if you're dating or?

If you're not, than what's the problem in just going on your own or with friends?
