There was an alleyway in Wallington, Surrey that was teemed with it! This is going back to the 70's tho', anyone seen any recently?

It's extinct. Dogs diets have drastically changed. They are more health conscious and prefer a balanced diet. Bones are now just after dinner toys.

Dogs started eating much more fibre. Hence the huge piles you see today.

that was because a dogs main feed was bones and that does make their stool white
