It seems like when people need recommendations for things (What song fits [this mood], what song would be great for [this event], etc.), members frequently respond with songs one can easily hear on Mainstreem Radio 99.1. Why? If people wanted those songs, they'd just play Mainstreem Radio at [event] or when they're in [mood].

when people ask on here,the people who answer might only
know mainstream tracks,so why cant they answer if thats
all they know?music is a very diverse subject,and i for one
am glad some people like mainstream, so they can leave
the good tunes for those that know(me).cheers.

Mainly because in the later half of the 20th century, music was commercialized & made "mainstream" to sell albums & make money. You have to be fairly knowledgeable & have spare time to find music outside the box today. Most people are sucked into the mainstream trap without even knowing it.

heh think i'd be the exception to that.

The music industry can't keep up with the age of information and the fact that the consumer is bypassing radio and record stores to get what they want off the net.

FM is DEAD! Record stores are overpriced distributors of past glories.

I don't...but people that answer that way just don't know enough about music. Most people don't know about any music besides what is played on their local radio stations.
