First of all, with that kind of space, you're talking about dvd's. Then, it all depends on how you burn the disc. You can make them different formats... if you use it like file storage as a data disc, you can put a lot of songs on it. But if you make an audio or video disc, you're not gonna be able to put nearly as many songs on it. Kinda like, if you make an mp3 cd, you can fit hundreds of songs, but if you make an audio cd, you can only fit about 20.

By the way, cd's are 700 MB... dvd's are 4.7 GB, which is about 6 times what a cd is.

When you buy a cd and it says you can fill it with 500 songs on it. They take it from a normal sized song. Like 2 minutes. When a song is 4 minutes, it will be 1399. Divide 4 by 2. You get 2. So a 4 minutes song counts as 2 songs. I think that is why.. You can actually search google.com for the answer. You'll be suprised what comes up.

the answer is in the conversion ratio
1 gigabyte=1024mbytes, not 1000 megabytes + the fact that cd`s and dvd`s have theoretical 600mb or 4.7gb capacity

in the big busniess world they use different conversions.

real world: big business:
1024 1000
so 1 gig in big busniess is 700mb in the real world
