I have an Intel Lancewood L440GX+ Server with an Adaptec AIC-7896/7 Ultra2 SCSI controller using 80pin ultra2 u160 SCSI drives. Will newer Ultra320 SCSI drives work on this server?

Hi there, I have attached part of a question from a scsi forum that may help answer your question. I will however point out that I would consider buying a better scsi card. Hope this helps :) IT@tonicweb.co.uk

For a hard drive (or the controller to go with a hard drive), do not consider anything lower than Ultra2. Above Ultra2, we have Ultra160 (or just U160) and U320, which have their transfer rates in MB/s in their names. Conveniently, all three standards are completely interoperable. Yes, you will only get the speed of the slowest component, but at least everything works. If you see the term LVD ("Low-Voltage Differential"), that also refers to these three modern SCSI standards.
