I have a Paralegal Certificate also and I was never able to obtain a Paralegal job. Companies around here want 3-5 years of work experience and some want 2-4 years experience. A certificate or diploma gets you nowhere. I just gave up and work as a Secretary now in a law firm and make pretty good money. Probably your best bet would be to find an attorney who works alone (sole practitioner) who would be willing to hire you and train you. Good luck.

The legal studies diploma is intended for people who work in legal offices. It is not a particularly difficult course but is only a part-qualification and does not lead to a career in law. In London, Birkbeck College offers the programme at various venues at a cost of about £250 per unit. You must take four units for the Certificate and another one for the Diploma. Then you need to do a Certificate in Legal Method before you could consider a law degree. A better option is the Inst of Legal Executives programme. It takes longer and is a little more difficult but will provide a better base for working in the law. Details:
