First, I wouldn't call it radical Islam. This implies that Islam is not, in and of itself, a hate filled religion. The Koran is very clear on how to deal with those who are not Muslim. "Cut them at their necks..." it says. From it's conception to today, Islam has been an aggressive and violent way of thought. Those that are Muslims, who are peaceful are the radical ones. The peaceful Muslims are the ones who are Muslim extremists.
Second, they hate us for many reasons. Certainly our foreign policy plays a role in this hatred. Our domestic policy also plays a role. I think that our open culture and relaxed morals are also something that triggers hatred. But I would add that a key toward their hatred of us is in the fact that we are not like them politically, socially, and most important, religiously. Very rarely are the politicians or others calling for violence against the west, it is almost always found in Mosques and from Imams. Many use their religion as an excuse to kill, as they are politically motivated, but the fact is that there are many complex reasons for this type of madness.
