All animals are competitive. Their survival and propagation depends upon their ability to compete with other animals (including humans) for limited resources. Their participation in social groups may vary with species, but ultimately these are all adaptations for survival.

Selfishness? That would be anthropomorphism as selfishness is a human characteristic (as is curiosity). Since there is no irrefutable way of gauging "intent" in animals, no reasonable conclusion can be drawn about the presence of these characteristics.

I would have to say a selfish and competitive animal would be a dog. They don't like sharing their toys or food, and when you have two dogs together, and you throw a Frisbee or ball, they will both run after it, and when one gets the frisbee or ball, the other one will try to snap it from the other.

I'd have to say humans for sure. But I also have a 4 year old Minature Pincher and his breed of dog is very selfish and competive as well.

Fisher cats (in the weasel family, natural territory upstate NY, NH, VT, ME, etc.) are secretive, selfish, competitive animals. They will take food away from mates and their own young. They will take food away from coyotes and cougars.... nasty creatures!
They will also kill for fun (especially domestic animals.)

Lions. they are always on the animal planet and you see how the females hunt but then the male comes and pushes the female away so he can eat first.
