Useless. That's all there is to it. The U.N. is all talk and no action, and I'd just as soon see the U.S. pull our support and kick them off our soil!

the UN is really important, because it's the only organization that can personify international laws, but it is not very effective because of it's architecture.
In fact any single permanent member of the security council (USA, UK, Russia, China, France) have the power to stop any decision ....and if it's against them it's obvious....
And also because USA "decided" that UN has no power on their country, this is as say: "You can decide, but if I don't agree I will not follow your statement", so other countries can think why only USA can ignore UN? If any country has the same dignity also my country has the right to ignore UN decisions........and this is very dangerous. No country should state that they are superior to UN decisions!! (Notice that some countries don't follow UN statement but they usually not deny the authority of the UN, and deny autority ruines UN importance, as you can can not respect the "don't smoke" and you will be condamned but deny the right to write "don't smoke" is different.)
I think that the only way to make UN more effective is to turn it from an Aristocracy(few rules all, and security council is an aristocracy or oligarchy) to a Democracy(all has the same power) and UN should have its own forces and power.
In fact today if UN decide a thing that is right, but none of the powerful countries want to support this decision with facts(for example sending its own troops as "Blue Helmets") this decision will remain nothing more than a piece of paper. But if UN had its own forces it can really act as an indipendent arbiter(and this should be its role).

A totally powerless and corrupt organization. It is a joke that will never gain any credibility. Time to kick their butts out of New York and send these people packing. Chavez invited them to Venezuela and the U.N. should take him up on his offer.

The UN is a corrupt organization who's main purpose is to undermine and destroy the Unites States, all the while, using American money to do it. The US should withdraw from the UN, and have it removed off of our soil. The UN has shown itself to be as useless and ineffective as the League of Nations.
Just the fact they they have taken NO action in preventing the continuing slaughter of thousands of innocent people in Darfur is reason enough for me to call for the UN to not only be disbanded, but have certain member nations be tried for crimes against humanity.

I can repeat (almost) every thing said above but I'll just add this. There really is a not so secret plot to disarm the world and take over govt.s are destroy things like our Constitution and Bill of Rights under one giant oppressive rule. The One World Order is alive and being financed by the tyrant like and super rich like George Soros, the Carnegies, the Rockefellers, et. al. (and probably Kofi Anan since he is so rich now!)

The UN could be a good idea. On some issues it's a good organization. On other issues it is incapable. I think there are ways to improve it, and make it better.

It is a good idea in theory. All countries united to work out their problems diplomatically without resorting to war. As of late, they have lost their teeth, and some corruption has occurred, and fools would rather throw out a broken system than try to fix it.

Most established Terrorist Organization in the World. I know, people think I'm crazy for saying that but even if they don't have the blood on their own hands they fund and support terrorists, especially against Israel.

The UN is a paper tiger. In it's current state, it is nothing more than a bag of hot air with no relevance or authority or power to implement any of the ideas it comes up with.

I detest it. But then again, I'd better get used to it. With the fanatical help of the 'media', and, our own Politicians, they appear to be the upcoming World Government.
No. If that were so....it would be reported by ABC, NBC, etc etc
I've lost it. Sorry.
