The people's power comes to an abrupt end as soon as they drop that ballot in that little box. Americans do not run their country, they do not live in a democratic republic, they have no power, and they are the only ones to blame for it. In the beginning, they were guaranteed the right to govern themselves, and they forfeited that, and handed over all the power to the government little by little. They built the throne for the imperialistic oligarchy that is now American government, they stood idly by while the government and businesses and military built an impenetrable defense against all opposition including it's own people, they aided the process that eventually made the concept of checks and balances amongst our governmental powers completely obsolete, and then they saw what they built, and decided to b*tch about, but ya can't have your cake and ice cream, too.
We are now an imperialistic oligarchy posing as democratic republic that filters the need-to-know basis of it's own people, while we rape and pillage an unsuspecting world. By principle we are Nazis, minus the anti-Semitism, the difference is the people are oblivious to and in denial of this FACT. They consider it nationalism and patriotic duty anytime the government tells them to look at it that way. Sound familiar? 1934, 1937, 1941, somewhere in the middle of Europe, a devastated country on it's way down the economic sh*tter with low morale is rallied by a disturbing war call? Started by a short man with a shorter mustache? They didn't have any precedent for this type of thing, they had more of an excuse to be in denial, until they witnessed or experienced the true nature of what was happening. We do, and still deny ourselves the benefit of truth and education. Is it any wonder the world hates us?

That you can jack off on the computer expressing whatever it is you are expressing is due to the formation of this form of government, which is NOT a given, and which relies at its base on elections. You do have power when you vote and if we all got up off our duffs and took more of an active interest and role, the politicians would snap right into line, or they'd be out next summer.

Only if you let it....

If you truly feel that the government is screwing the nation (and I'm not saying they aren't), what are you prepared to do about it? Its your country, and elected officials are your employees.

What can any of us do to make a change to this crooked policy and the way elections are run?

Yes.

Ocasionally the American people are asked to vote to "ratify" decisions that were made by global business for its own private interests (read: oil) years earlier.

We don't make the decisions, but voting sometimes gives you a warm fuzzy about them, like a child driving with a toy steering wheel next to his dad.

I knew you would say something intelligent eventually. You're not too far off the mark. A better example would be China. You can vote for this, that, or the other commie.

While it is true that there has been no HONEST national election in the USA since 1996, that is a FIXABLE problem that we should get going on IMMEDIATELY.
