Should you fly into Boston and then fly into Nantucket or should you take a boat from Boston to Nantucket. Is there a better place than Boston to fly into first?

I have just read "Moby Dick" and "Ahab's Wife" and have fallen in love with the history and the description of the people and the landscape there. Anyone who has been there that wants to share info would be greatly appreciated.

If you have enough money to stay in Nantucket you probably have enough to fly there. Other than from Boston there should be flights from New York, especially in summer.

Or rent a car either in Boston or from Providence (an alternative airport for you to consider) and take the ferry. But the prior two Answers are both misleading. It's most convenient and more frequent ferry service from Woods Hole, not Hyannis, whether you have a car or taking the bus.

Nantucket is lovely but very expensive. The natural landscape where it has not suffered buildings is much of heatherlands and of course sandy bluffs, dunes and beach near the water.

Nantucket is beautiful and you are going to have a blast. Riding a bike is the best way to get around by far, and at 15 you aren't going to have much of a choice. Sconset Nantucket is an easy bike ride from town and is probably the most picturesque place on the island (if not all of New England). There are tons of great beaches, restaurants and ice cream stops as well around the island. The town itself is fun to walk around and take pictures of. If you have the opportunity, get your parents to rent a jeep and go out to Great Point light. There are often seal colonies out there and the drive is easy and a lot of fun. You're going to love it!

You can fly into Boston, and then take a boat to Nantucket. That's probably the best way to go.

When you fly to Logan Airport in Boston, take the Plymouth and Brockton Bus Line at the Airport to Hyannis where you board a Steamship Authority boat to Nantucket. Please call to confirm.

This is cheaper than flying to Nantucket. Have a nice time.
