so i have to write a paragraph on a few benifits of making synthetic gemstones?? its so confusing i cant find out how to answer it i looked everywhere. will some nice person help me?

Synthetic gemstones make good alternatives for consumers who can't afford natural stones and could be a PC alternative for those who think mining ruins the environment (and people's lives). However, despite being a gemologist, I'd say the main benefit of synthetic gems is not their ornamental value, but their INDUSTRIAL value.
Synthetic gems feature heavily in our daily lives and we don't even take note of it. Think about your watches (quartz), scratch-proof surfaces (sapphire), power tools (diamond), hair dryers and minus ion bands (tourmaline)....All helping us live our lives and all happily unornamental and synthetic! ^_^
Do some research (wiki/google/library) and expand on that for your homework. I'm sure you'll be looking at an A-grade! LOL Hope I've been kind and that this helps!!!

Gemstones are manufactured to imitate other gemstones. For example, cubic zirconia is a synthetic diamond simulant composed of zirconium oxide. The imitations copy the look and colour of the real stone but possess neither their chemical nor physical characteristics. However, true synthetic gemstones are not necessarily imitation. For example, diamonds, ruby, sapphires and emeralds have been manufactured in labs, which possess very nearly identical chemical and physical characteristics to the genuine article. Synthetic corundums, including ruby and sapphire, are very common and they cost only a fraction of the natural stones. Smaller synthetic diamonds have been manufactured in large quantities as industrial abrasives for many years. Only recently, larger synthetic diamonds of gemstone quality, especially of the coloured variety, have been manufactured.

One benefit would be adults and children wouldn't have their hands cut off (the workers in the diamond mines).
Cheaper price of products.
