i quite agree with you, but sorry to tell you, if you dont know already she is being put down to a reoccurring role in the programme.
A recent interview with Stargate producer Brad Wright on the official Stargate site has him stating that the character, Elizabeth Weir, will be relegated to a "reoccuring role" in SGA's 4th season. If you wish to not see this happen, please write to Joseph Mallozzi and/or Paul Mullie, Executive Producers, to express (politely) your dismay at this decision:

No idea why I am answering this! My husband is obsessed with Stargate SG1. He asked for seasons on DVD and we are waiting until I can buy him more. He watches it constantly on SciFi channel! At first I hated it, but I hate to admit that it has grown on me a little. I think he likes it because each show is such a unique adventure! It's like you know that the SG1 crew will win, but you have to watch to see how everything unfolds! I know he has watched Atlantis also but SG1 he watches all the time!

im not a big fan of scifi but i couldnt have a week with out seeing stargate.
