Till We Have Faces by C. S. Lewis (yes, as in Narnia).
A novelization of the story of Cupid and Psyche told from the point of view of her sister. Really involved historical fiction filled with multiple levels of story.

The King Must Die by Mary Renault.
Historical fiction by a professional historian. The story of Theseus and the Minotaur including real Greek traditions of that era.

Stardust by Niel Gaimon.
A young man journeys to the wrong side of the Wall to find his hearts desire. (movie coming out in July!).

I don't remember where it came from. But I heard this story about Satan trying to out do God.
God made a rose Satan would try and it was a thistle.
God made a dolphin and Satan made a shark.
And so on. The point of the story is that they together make a balance. Good and Bad.

I have to say I'm really fond of most of the Greek myths. The Odyssey is great though, so is Hercules, and Jason and so on...

My favorite is the one that says the reason why black people run fast and jump high is because we have an extra muscle in our body that whites don't have.

oh, mine is quite simple. Moles and freckles and birth marks are where the angels kissed you. Its my favorite.
