You might notice the both Republicans and Democrats never do what the say in order to get elected. Feeling a little betrayed by now? They are really the same party just playing a little game. The Democrats said they would end the troop increases in Iraq right? Don’t believe a word of it. Just watch more troops are heading over there but less than the number Bush mentioned which they all knew was going to happen from the start. The Dems will make political noises and they could block this but in the end they will give Bush exactly what he really wanted an extra 10,000 or so. Both parties will just expand the government, raise our taxes and abuse their power. We just tossed out the Repulicans for the Democrats but the joke is on us because they are both the same. Vote for a third party and end this madness!

We'll give you the benefit of the doubt and trust that you are just confused from your Liberal friends. Smaller govenment has been a tenent of the Republican Party Platform for years.
What we stand for:
We believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
We believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all.
We believe government must practice fiscal responsibility.
We believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations.
We believe the best government is that which governs least.
We believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
We believe that free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative lead to opportunities, economic growth and prosperity.

True Conservatives do indeed want less Government and will always work towards that.
The Castrated RINO's who presently sit on the right side of the isle are fooling no one and their days are numbered.
This is why the House and Senate went to the Demoncrats. Not because Liberalism Won, but because Conservatism was abandoned.
All the Right needs to regain control is to remember who brought them to the dance in the first place.

Conservatives are actually perplexed by the way George Bush has allowed Congress to spend like drunken sailors.
But Bush did try to weed out a lot of government programs in his first term. He openly questioned those not being used. I don't know what success he had, though.
Those currently in the running for president on the conservative side are not necessarily "big government" conservatives.

I think you have conservatives confused with liberals. No true conservative wants bigger government.
And by the way, not all conservatives are Republicans, just like not all republicans are conservatives.
