Just went through this with my mother. My father passed away a couple of months ago and my mom just got a check from social security for $237.
Anything is better than nothing but how in the world do they think that this will help the surviving spouse? I wonder how they came up with that amount?

$255 if you qualify. Used to cover the cemetery space and head stone. It doesn't anymore.

the usuall amount is about 245 or less. they dont give you hardly anything.
