usually when the mobo goes on a laptop, they do not repair them. i don;t even know a price range foe lappy mobos. a desktop mobo will go from 50 to 200, so i guees one for a laptop would go from 75 to 300 or so. then you have to pay for repairs on top of that. you are probably better off scraping it and getting a new one.

Depends on the quality, size, and resolution of the LCD screen that was used in your laptop. The screen itself will likely run you between $200 and $400 (assuming you can find one), then you'd have to find out how much your local repair shop would charge to replace it. It's not an easy thing to do so it'll probably be fairly expensive to have it replaced. As the poster above me said, you might want to just buy a new laptop. For the price of replacing the screen you can probably get a whole new machine that's better than your current one.

Yep, ditto that, there comes a point (3 years?) when the repair cost is about equal to the computer worth. Then it's time to get a newbie. You're probably ready for a new one, anyway, need more speed, more storage, more modern usb (like usb2 instead of usb1), more powerful modem (even if you're using dialup like me) and on, and on...Just bite the bullet and do it. (Groan!) But take care and prepare carefully and back up as many files as you can first so it'll be as painless as possible!

I am assuming that the laptop doesn't work at all when you power it on, _and_ that it's not charging the battery.
It really depends on what kind of laptop you have, as to whether or not it's worth repairing. You can get decent laptops these days for less than some would cost to repair.
I'd get a second opinion on what's wrong, as well.

I would advise u to junk the old, buy new. There won't be that much difference to fix the old and buy new. USUALLY costs at least $100 just to wake up the repair man.

you should call computer techs in your area and ask them if the service fee that they charge is applied to your cost of fixing it. i took mine to Computer Guru. They charge 25 dollars to inspect it but my totall was 100. they applied those 25 to my fee of 75 which i thought was a very cheap price. good luck

if this is a laptop....probably better off buying a new one...mother boards are friggin' expensive, they can cost as much as new computer that is on sale! But i would suggest if you can, to get a second opinion...just to make sure that it isn't a "single" component that went bad on that mother board....
Hope this helps....Good luck!

problem 1) try another power cord to see if the power cord is fried
problem 2) Goto more than one repair shop, sometimes the repair guy is trying just to get your money.
hope this helps
