Unemployment Insurance is for those who lost their job due to no fault of their own. Your former employer may challenge your claim.
You have nothing to lose by filing the claim. The burden is on your former employer to show you were fired for cause. If they fail to due so or fail to challenge your claim you will receive unemployment monies.

Even if you could why would you want to? Unemployment only pays a portion of your previous salary up to a certain amount. If your capable of working get off your hump and get a job.

No, absenteeism is grounds for termination. Unemployment compensation is for people who get laid off from work due to no fault of their own.
