Yes, there are BF 2142 Players. I love the game, and have loved the series since BF1942.
I have not really joined one server yet. I am still looking around and trying out many of them. I also tend to be in the mood for something specific - Huge Titan/ Huge City/ Small City or a particular map. I have a couple RL friends that play on one particular server, so I will probably start to play more there.
I do not broadcast my characters name out. I friend of mine had his BF2 account hacked shortly after giving his out.
In Reference to the earlier poster who thinks the BF2142 is too futuristic. That is his opinion and he right to have it. However, I do not find this to be the case or at least an issue. Most of the weapons are very similar to what is available today. The Walkers and the Hover Tanks are futuristic though. I enjoy both games (all BF games). Since BF2142 is the most recent and tends to have the most players on-line I play it.

The answer to the first question is yes. I can't answer the second question because I am not a Battlefield 2142 player.

sorry man. i'm a BATTLEFIELD 2 playa and i heard that this new BF2142 isn't so good because is too futuristic. i think i will wait a little longer, maybe they'll come out with BF3. i love the game, but i hate the artillery bullsh!t and the "hard to destroy" helicopters.
