The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pressing the Bush administration for routine access to military aircraft for domestic flights, such as trips back to her San Francisco district, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
The sources, who include those in Congress and in the administration, said the Democrat is seeking regular military flights not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation. A knowledgeable source called the request "carte blanche for an aircraft any time."

I DID read the whole article, and my question wasn't about herself or staff, it was about her relatives. Something that Speaker Hastert never requested. Please read for comprehension.

Pelosi Creates Global Warming Committee
"The science of global warming and its impact is overwhelming and unequivocal," Pelosi said in a statement. The future of our country, indeed our entire planet, is at stake."

maybe you should read a little further:

A defense source said the speaker's regular access to a military plane began after the September 11, 2001, attacks. Rep. J. Dennis Hastert, Illinois Republican, who was speaker at the time, started using U.S. Air Force planes for domestic travel to and from his district for security reasons. A former Hastert aide said the congressman did not use military planes for political trips or regularly transport his family.
The defense source said Mr. Hastert requested a plane with good communications so he could conduct legislative business. The military flights increased to the point the speaker used a military plane for many, if not all, flights to his Illinois district, the former aide said.

Republicans started abusing this power to begin with, and although this does not excuse the current speaker's request, it does bring to light that there are plenty of abuses of our military, once again to quote the article:

U.S. Air Force travel for VIPs such as members of Congress is first-rate. The planes are staffed with stewards who serve meals and tend an open bar. Communications suites allow members to conduct business while traveling.
Such flights are one of Congress' cherished perquisites, providing lawmakers a chance to visit foreign lands at government expense. Official duties are often mixed with sightseeing and fine dining.

I think in regards to families, I would rather them flying in military planes then to be diverting our flights to go pick them up, like the Bush twins...

or maybe someone should remind Speaker Pelosi that the president was a pilot, would she really want to put her family in his "capable" hands?

I would definitely give Pelosi an airplane for her personal use and she could invite her family as well. It is an old Spad from world war 2. She can fly her relatives attached to the wings and she could sit on the tail....or better still, beyond the tail. What a *****!

Of course, the proper answer is NO. Nancy herself is a
millionaire and shouldn't be asking for government amenities
paid for by taxpayers, especially to use for her relatives.
If Hassart's relatives got private jet trips at taxpayers expense,
he should pay it back. These Senators and Speakers get tons
of money for life, my friends, unlike us normal citizens. This
is one of the reasons we can never balance the budget....too
much "fleecing of America"/.

Why doesn't see just hop on her broomstick?

Ever since the Democrats took the House and she got her gavel, I think she's convinced that she's actually a demigod instead of a person.

I have never, ever seen anyone's head swell so big, so quick as hers.

Someone needs to tap her on the shoulder and remind her that her $hit does indeed stink; heck I can smell it all the way in Oregon.

if you read more than the first paragraph you'll see this:

"Mrs. Pelosi's request is not new for a speaker, who is second-in-line in presidential succession. A defense source said the speaker's regular access to a military plane began after the September 11, 2001, attacks"

Speaker Pelosi's request is nothing short of outrageous. It should be summarily denied with a swift warning to her not to guild the lilly for herself or her family.
