Hello,

I am facing redundancy, and I was given two options to consider if I am made redundancy:-

* 8 weeks notice workng
* 2 weeks notice working and 6 weeks gardening leave

I would like to know which one would get me more money, and whether it is tax free.

And oh, if I choose gardening leave - will I be allowed to go on holiday overseas?

I would appreciate your answer.

Thank you!!

You won't be any worse off going on Gardening leave - that's for sure. I'd go for that one.

As for going abroad; well - clarify the terms of the Gardening leave - but it sounds like you could go for broke.

If you work the notice then it's taxable under PAYE

If you receive money in lieu of notice it should be tax free.

Your redundancy payment will be tax free.

Should be no problem going on holiday, the only think you really can't do during gardening leave is take another job in the same line of work.
