Why do we continue to make people popular and rich because they are breaking all standards of right v/s wrong in our society? I know it is each persons perogative as to watch or not watch certain shows or movies, but we are still affected by them in our everyday life. Kids are commiting terrorist acts, with little remorse or regardless of what consequences it may bring. Shows glorifying murder and showing detailed images of death and even dead children. They glorify rape and extra marital affairs, permiscuis behavior, drugs and alchohol. Granted, these things existed before they were glorified on national television, but don't you think that it has influenced people to do things that are morally wrong because those things are appearing and even presented as appealing ways of life? What do you think.... a nation of morals or apathy?

You know these occurrences don't only happen on television. They happen in all aspects of the media, music, video games, etc.. BTW, no need to blame the media, blame whomever isn't monitoring their children's behavior.

What show "glorifies" rape and murder?

I will agree with your point, but not your examples. I think shows like "super sweet 16" "Laguna Beach" "Maui Fever"...pretty much any of the new reality shows on MTV are pretty bad. They set a standard for young people that is unrealistic and detrimental. We allow people who are inarticulate and vapid to become role models because they are rich and pretty. We have a generation who is getting the message, "don't make good choices, be cute and party and be rude to people".

I think that's a greater threat in terms of influence by the media. I think a larger percentage of kids are going to emulate Paris Hilton than Jeffery Dahlmer... and we are still going to see painfully bad consequences.

It seems that anymore people love to watch the misery of others.Once it hits home then they realize the bad stuff doesn't always happen to the other family.Television has really changed this world, but so has the Internet it is even more graphic.I know some people who will not let their children watch T.V. or use a computer.I blame the media the news is really violent and hardly ever shows something good that happened.
