In most states, DUI is not a felony for a first offense. Most states even allow two DUI convictions within a period of time before it is a felony. Connecticut law seems to proscribe up to 3 years in jail for a 3rd offense within a 10 year period, which would generally be indicative of a felony.
If charged with DUI, you need to immediately consult with an attorney. There are a host of issues involved, and only an attorney licensed in your state can properly advise you. For a referral, contact your local or state bar association.
