Did you move since your last employment with them? If so, maybe that's why it's running behind. If not, and if you don't receive it in the next day or two, I would certainly go to their offices and ask.
If not, and if you saved your check stubs, you can just add up all your gross pay and then each tax that was taken out by yourself. If you E-file, you won't need the paper copies anyway. You can call and get their employer ID number for state and federal.

Go in and pick it up. If they don't have it ask them to provide you with a substitute form. If they say no call the IRS while there

If they absolutely telling you the truth, why don't you ask them for proof that they definitely send out. Or ask me to provide you another W2-form.

ask them to send it by registered mail or fedex or something
ask for a tracking number, which will tell you if they sent it or not.
